In a remarkable display of determination, East Bengal staged an extraordinary comeback, defeating Punjab 4-2 after being two goals down. The game was a true testament to the spirit of the Red and Yellow brigade, who, despite a string of injuries and a controversial previous loss, fought back to claim a vital win.

Punjab dominated the first half, with goals from Sukhjit in the 21st minute and Vidal in the 39th putting them in control. At the break, it seemed unlikely that a battered East Bengal side, missing key players like Madih Talal and Sol Crespo, would turn things around. However, a revitalized East Bengal emerged in the second half, with attacking brilliance from Mahesh, David, and Vishnu.

In a stunning 20-minute blitz, East Bengal tore through Punjab’s defense. Hejazi and Vishnu both scored before an own goal from Punjab’s Sury Mettei gave East Bengal a 3-2 lead. Punjab’s hopes were dashed when Lungdim was sent off in the 64th minute. David sealed the win in the 67th minute, ensuring a 4-2 victory for East Bengal.

With this win, East Bengal climbed to 11th with 10 points from 11 matches, and the comeback performance raised hopes of securing a spot in the Super Six for their supporters.
