Spanish coach Manolo Márquez Roca has been appointed as the head coach of the Indian football team, marking the end of Igor Stimac’s tenure. Márquez will simultaneously coach FC Goa until May 31, 2025, after which he will focus solely on the national team.
Known for leading Hyderabad FC to the ISL championship, Márquez is well-versed in Indian football. His appointment comes after India’s failure to qualify for the World Cup, prompting a major coaching overhaul.
AIFF officially announced Márquez’s appointment, choosing him over notable contenders like Antonio López Habas and Sanjoy Sen. The federation hopes this change will revive India’s international football ambitions.
