Shribhumi FC Triumphs Over East Bengal to Win Kanyashree Cup

In a thrilling encounter at Kishore Bharati Stadium, Shribhumi FC emerged victorious in the Kanyashree Cup by defeating East Bengal FC 2-1. Sujata Kar’s team dominated from the outset, with standout performances from Mousumi Murmu and Rimpa Halder. Despite being reduced to 10 players in the 65th minute, Shribhumi secured the win under Sujata Kar’s guidance.
In the first half, goals from Rimpa Halder and Mousumi Murmu put Shribhumi ahead 2-0. However, Shribhumi had to play a player down after Mousumi Murmu received a red card. Emami East Bengal made desperate attempts to equalize after halftime, with Mamata Mahato scoring midway through the second half to reduce the deficit. Yet, all efforts to level the score were thwarted by Shribhumi’s goalkeeper, Adrija Sarkhel.
Rimpa Halder was named Player of the Match for her exceptional performance. The match was attended by Sujit Bose, the state’s fire services minister, as well as IFA Secretary Anirban Dutta, Vice President Saurav Pal, Joint Secretary Sufal Ranjan Giri, and Rakesh Jha. With this defeat, Emami East Bengal FC remains second in the league standings of the Kanyashree Cup based on points.
