In a thrilling match marked by controversy over refereeing decisions, Real Madrid secured a place in the UEFA Champions League final. They overcame Bayern Munich 4-3 on aggregate after losing the second leg 2-1 on Wednesday night. Carlo Ancelotti’s side had drawn 2-2 in the first leg at Allianz Arena. The victory at Santiago Bernabéu means Real Madrid reaches the final for the sixth time in ten years.

However, it wasn’t an easy start for Real Madrid in the match. Despite a balanced first half, the score remained goalless at halftime. In the second half, Bayern took the lead with a goal from Alphonso Davies in the 68th minute, replacing Leroy Sané. At one point, it seemed the Spanish champions might be heading out of the final, but then Vinícius Júnior equalized in the 88th minute of the first leg to confirm victory during injury time. Within a few minutes, they reached the seventh heaven.

Bayern, who led by a goal until the 88th minute, lost 2-1 on aggregate after losing 4-3 goals in the semifinals by combining both halves. However, at the end of the semifinals, there was controversy. Supporters were furious over a goal overturned by an offside call in injury time.

Real Madrid eventually won the argument. In the final, they faced Borussia Dortmund, the opponent team. The German club lost to Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinals as they did in the first leg on Tuesday night, 1-0 at home. Conversely, Matt Hummel’s only goal in the first half of the game gave Dortmund the opportunity to play in the Champions League final for the first time in 11 years.
