At the end of the match, jubilation was evident from Bhawanipore FC coach Saied Ramon. He knew the significance of this match. However, Mohun Bagan’s start in the Calcutta League wasn’t as anticipated. Newly appointed coach Deggie Cardoso had meticulously prepared over the past few days for the league. But today, that fire wasn’t seen from Mohun Bagan. At Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Barasat, within 10 minutes, Shubhajit Singh’s long-range free kick put Sub-Junior Brigade ahead. However, within 17 minutes, Bhawanipore equalized through Jiten Murmu. No further goals were scored throughout the match.

The rain-soaked field today saw several footballers suffer injuries. However, Bhawanipore’s Saiful Rahman appeared to be nursing fears in his heart. He was injured in the clash towards the end of the first half between Mohun Bagan and Bhawanipore. Even on the field, he required CPR. However, he was swiftly taken to the nearby Galaxy Hospital in an ambulance, ensuring no further risks. Saiful Rahman is reported to be recovering well. Mohun Bagan didn’t have a successful home league last year. This monsoon, they aim to turn things around.
