Mohun Bagan Super Giant clinched the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 League Winners Shield with a professional 2-0 win over FC Goa at the Salt Lake Stadium on Sunday, finishing the league phase with 48 points from 22 matches.
Goals from Liston Colaco (28’) and Jason Cummings (50’) ensured a fitting finale for the Mariners, who edged past Mumbai City FC by three points to lift their maiden ISL Shield. Manolo Márquez’s side showed composure and control throughout the match, pressing with intensity and defending resolutely against a Goa side that had already qualified for the playoffs.
Colaco put the hosts ahead with a curling strike from outside the box, sending the home crowd into raptures. Early in the second half, Cummings latched onto a clever through ball and calmly slotted it past Dheeraj Singh to double the lead. The final whistle sparked wild celebrations in Kolkata as Mohun Bagan added the Shield to their historic trophy cabinet. “It’s a massive achievement,” said captain Subhasish Bose. “We’ve worked all season for this moment.”
