Mohun Bagan showcased their attacking dominance by thrashing Air Force 6-0 in the Durand Cup on Thursday. The Mariners were relentless from the start, with Jason Cummings leading the charge by netting twice. Liston Colaco, Anirudh Thapa, and Greg Stewart also found the back of the net, rounding off a stunning performance.
Cummings opened the scoring in the fourth minute, weaving through two defenders before slotting home. Just six minutes later, John Aldred doubled the lead, converting a rebound from Colaco’s powerful header. The Mariners dictated play with precision, keeping possession and dismantling Air Force’s defense. Liston Colaco extended the lead to 3-0 just before halftime with a thunderous strike from Sahal Abdul Samad’s through ball.
In the second half, Thapa’s world-class finish in the 65th minute left the Air Force goalkeeper helpless. Cummings completed his brace in the 76th minute, while substitute Greg Stewart sealed the rout with a neat one-two combination in the final minutes.
This emphatic win boosts Mohun Bagan’s confidence ahead of their much-anticipated clash against East Bengal in the Durand Derby on August 18. The Mariners look poised for another strong campaign as they continue their title defense.
