Mohammedan Sporting Starts I-League Campaign with a 2-1 Win Over Aizawl FC

Mohammedan Sporting kicked off their I-League campaign on a winning note, defeating Aizawl FC 2-1 in a tightly contested match on Saturday. The game, held at the Kishore Bharati Stadium, saw early action as both teams fought hard for dominance.

Mohammedan took the lead in the 7th minute when Samuel found the back of the net with a brilliant strike. However, Aizawl responded swiftly, with Mafela scoring the equalizer in the 12th minute. The Mariners regained their lead in the 28th minute through Alexis, who converted a well-crafted opportunity to put Mohammedan back in control.

The second half witnessed an intense battle as both teams pushed hard for more goals. Despite numerous attempts from Aizawl, Mohammedan’s defense held firm, ensuring the scoreline remained unchanged.

With this victory, Mohammedan Sporting begins their I-League journey on a positive note, earning three vital points. Coach Andrey Chernyshov praised the team’s determination, stating, “The boys showed great character, especially in maintaining composure during the second half. This is the kind of start we wanted.”
