Mohammedan SC Opens ISL Account with Dramatic Win Over Chennaiyin

Mohammedan SC claimed their first ISL victory with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Chennaiyin FC in an away match. Fanais’ solitary goal ensured success for Andrey Chernyshov’s men, who had faced heartbreak in their previous games.

Chennaiyin dominated early proceedings, with Irfan and Daniel Chima testing Mohammedan’s defense. Despite numerous chances, Chennaiyin couldn’t break through, with Gaurav Bora standing tall for the visitors.

Against the run of play, Fanais capitalized on a defensive mix-up in the 35th minute to score into an empty net. The goal lifted Mohammedan’s spirits, and they held firm against relentless Chennaiyin attacks.

Despite late drama, including a missed penalty by Manjoki, Mohammedan’s defense and goalkeeper Padam Chhetri were resolute. The win provided Mohammedan their first three points in ISL, overcoming the challenges of an away fixture and Chennaiyin’s dominance.
