Mohun Bagan bounced back emphatically from their defeat against Bengaluru, thrashing Mohammedan Sporting 3-0 in the much-anticipated ISL Derby at Yuva Bharati Stadium.

Molina surprised many with his starting lineup, benching Dimitri Petratos in favour of Jamie Maclaren, while shoring up the defense with Tom Aldred and Alberto Rodriguez. The gamble paid off brilliantly.

Maclaren, starting for the first time this season, justified his selection in style. In the 8th minute, he converted a header from Greg Stewart’s assist. Stewart continued his magic, setting up the second goal for Subhasish Bose from a free kick in the 31st minute.

The talismanic Stewart added a third himself, firing home from outside the box in the 36th minute, sealing the game before halftime.

Mohammedan created a few chances in the second half but couldn’t capitalize, as Bagan’s defense held firm. The Green and Maroons had opportunities to increase their tally but settled for a comprehensive victory.

The win brought smiles back to Bagan fans as they painted the derby green and maroon.
