Mohun Bagan has pulled off a major coup by signing Australian superstar Jamie Maclaren on a four-year deal. The prolific striker, a five-time Golden Boot winner in the A-League, joins the Mariners after an illustrious career with Melbourne City FC, where he became their all-time leading scorer with 103 goals in 142 matches.
Maclaren’s signing reflects Mohun Bagan’s ambition to dominate the Indian Super League (ISL). Paired with fellow Australians Jason Cummings and Dimitri Petratos, and Scottish playmaker Greg Stewart, the Mariners now boast one of the most formidable attacking line-ups in the league.
The 30-year-old striker expressed his excitement about joining Mohun Bagan. “The rich heritage, the passion of the fans, and the club’s hunger for success drew me here. I’m eager to contribute to this iconic team’s legacy and experience Indian football’s electric atmosphere,” he said.
Maclaren’s arrival will be officially unveiled during the grand “Mohun Bagan Day” celebrations on July 29, where he is set to begin training with the team. With his lethal finishing and leadership, the Mariners are poised to mount a strong challenge for the ISL title, setting the stage for a thrilling season ahead.
