India’s newly appointed head coach, Manolo Márquez, announced a 26-player squad for the Intercontinental Cup, set to begin in Hyderabad on September 3. This marks India’s first major campaign since the retirement of Sunil Chhetri.
The squad includes experienced players like Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Anirudh Thapa, and Manvir Singh, along with young talents such as Nandhakumar Sekar and Roshan Singh. India, ranked 124th in FIFA rankings, will face Syria (93rd) and Mauritius (179th) in the tournament.

Speaking about the team’s prospects, Márquez said, “This camp is an exciting challenge, and I trust my players’ abilities. Representing the national team is an honor, and we aim to make our supporters proud.” The coach emphasized teamwork and preparation, as the squad gears up for their matches on September 3, 6, and 9.

The Intercontinental Cup serves as a vital step for India to build a cohesive unit under Márquez’s guidance, setting the stage for future international competitions.
