In a historic victory for ISL, East Bengal shone brightly. In Kerala’s home ground, Mahesh and Sol Krespó orchestrated a phenomenal performance. With a resounding 4-2 victory over Kerala Blasters, Sol Krespó’s squad celebrated a decisive win. Head Coach Carlos Cuadrat of East Bengal savored the team’s exceptional triumph from the gallery. Leading with a brace of goals were Lal-Holud’s coaches, Sol Krespó and Mahesh Singh. However, Kerala had to bid farewell to two footballers after they received red cards following their yellow card infractions on the field. Despite creating several opportunities from the match’s start, Lal-Holud’s forces failed to convert goals. In a turn of events, Kerala surged ahead with a goal against the run of play in the 23rd minute. Jackson Singh’s red card in the 45th minute forced a defensive stance, with Kerala Blasters’ goalkeeper, Karanjit Singh, committing a foul inside the box. Referee Venkatesh awarded a penalty, which Krespó failed to convert, resulting in a 1-1 tie at halftime.

The second half saw East Bengal creating numerous chances but struggled to capitalize until Krespó broke the deadlock in the 71st minute, pushing East Bengal ahead 2-1. Naushad Singh’s red card eased East Bengal’s path further in the 74th minute. In a dramatic turn, Mahesh’s goal in the 82nd minute extended East Bengal’s lead to 3-1. However, a last-minute self-goal by Hijazi Maher brought Kerala Blasters within striking distance at 3-2. Yet, Mahesh sealed East Bengal’s victory with a spectacular goal in the 87th minute, concluding the match 4-2. This significant win catapulted the Red and Gold Brigade to 7th place in the league table from the 11th spot earlier in the day.
