East Bengal broke their streak of consecutive losses in the ISL with a remarkable 2-1 victory against Bengaluru FC at their home ground on Sunday. The match seemed like a turning point for Carlos Cuadrat’s boys. Earlier, at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, they had thrashed Kerala Blasters 4-2. Today, it was a redux of that victory as they managed to clinch two back-to-back wins in the ISL.

Today’s win propels East Bengal to the 6th position in the league table with 24 points from 21 matches. However, their fate for the final six hinges on the Chennai-NorthEast United match. If Chennai draws and East Bengal loses to Punjab FC in their last match, they will finish with 27 points. Should both Chennai and NorthEast FC earn full points in their remaining two matches, they could surpass East Bengal with 30 and 29 points respectively.

This match marked East Bengal’s hope for a playoff spot after a challenging season. The jubilant scenes post their victory against Bengaluru FC, akin to their previous win against Kerala Blasters, showed how determined Carlos Cuadrat’s team is to finish strong.
