This year’s CFL campaign has started poorly for Mohammedan Sporting. After kicking off the league with a six-goal victory over Wari, the black-and-white brigade faced a draw against Khidirpur in their second match. In their third game, Tanmoy Ghosh’s team succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Kalighat Milan Sangha.

Kalighat MS took the lead in the first half with two goals from Dorjee Tamang. In just an eight-minute storm, Mohammedan was left colourless. In the 37th minute, Tamang’s long-range shot hit the net via the near post. Recovering from that blow was out of the question. Within four minutes, in the 41st minute, Mohammedan conceded again. Tamang made a quick one-two to enter the box and scored again with a light touch of his right foot, despite a defender on his back.

Despite continuous attacks in the second half, Mohammedan couldn’t find the net until the 83rd minute. Israfil scored from a corner that slipped through Kalighat MS’s defense. However, it was not enough. Mohammedan had 16 shots, with only three on target, highlighting their lack of penetration. Towards the end of the match, frequent attacks yielded no results. Despite holding 62% possession, Hakim Segundo’s team has dropped points in consecutive matches, putting them in a difficult position.
