AFC Takes Action: Mohun Bagan Withdrawn from ACL 2 Amid Iran Crisis

Mohun Bagan’s decision to skip their ACL 2 clash against Tractor FC in Iran has led to significant consequences. AFC has officially removed the club from the competition, nullifying all previous points and goals.
The Mariners, citing safety concerns amid Iran’s escalating conflict, chose not to travel to Tabriz for their match. The security situation worsened as ballistic missiles were launched, effectively marking the onset of war between Iran and Israel.
Despite Mohun Bagan’s appeal for reconsideration, AFC upheld its regulations, ruling the team as having withdrawn from the tournament. Bagan’s first ACL 2 match, a draw against Ravshan, will also be erased from records.
The decision is a blow to Mohun Bagan’s ambitions and leaves fans disappointed. While safety was paramount, the loss of opportunity to compete on Asia’s big stage is a bitter pill to swallow.
